Mallorca, also known as Majorca, is Spain’s largest Balearic Island in the Mediterranean. Known best for its beaches, picturesque hilltop towns and breathtaking coastline, it’s a sought after vacation destination for locals and tourists alike. While there is so much to see, the beaches are by far the island’s main draw. To help you narrow down the can’t miss spots, I’ve rounded up a list of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca.
Cala Llombards
Location: Southeast Coast
Situated in the Southeast Coast of Mallorca, Cala Llombards is tucked away in the village of Es Lombard’s. Lined with a soft sand beach equipped with a full beach bar and small waterfront stone houses, it’s quite a sight to be seen.
One of the more unique aspects of this beach are the pathway to the rocks; one to the right and one to the left. Follow the one to the right and you’ll find a beautiful view of the ocean and Es Pontàs, a large natural rock arch in the ocean. To the left, you’ll follow it up to for an elevated viewpoint of the beach.
Parking: While there is parking right around the beach area, it is very limited and there aren’t many spots suitable for parking cars of all sizes. If you don’t mind walking, I highly recommend parking at the free lot in town, which you can find at Camí de Cala Llombards, 07690 Cala Llombards, Illes Balears, Spain. It’s a roughly 15 minute walk but is well worth it to avoid the parking trouble.
*Pro Tip: The above parking lot is also conveniently located within walking distance of Cala s’Almunia and Caló des Moro so it’s the ideal place if you’re looking to spend the day beach hopping.
Cala s’Almunia
Location: Southeast Coast
A very small but beautiful beach conveniently located just minutes from Cala Llombards, Cala s’Almunia is quite the beauty. While it may not be the most comfortable place to lounge for the day, it has some of the best water to swim in. Given that the beach area is very small and can be even smaller depending on the tide, you’ll most likely find yourself posting up on the rocks and taking dips jumping into the crystal clear waters. If you have a snorkeling set, this is the place to use it.
Parking: There is essentially no parking near the entrance to the beach, so I highly recommend parking in the lot in town (more information on the exact location of this can be found in the description under Cala Llombards). It’s a good 15-20 minute walk but is really the only option.
*Pro Tip: I highly recommend packing your water shoes for this beach day. Given that you’ll likely be jumping in and out of the water via the rocks, it can take a toll if you have sensitive feet.
Caló des Moro
Location: Southeast Coast
This beach needs no introduction, as the crystal clear turquoise water speaks for itself. Caló des Moro beach can be accessed two ways; the first, through a (semi) hidden walkway of the road Carrer des Calo des Moro. The second, through a pathway accessible from Cala s’Almunia, which can be found by taking a left after walking down the stairs from the beach entrance and following the path.
I highly recommend heading to Caló des Moro on the earlier side, as a security guard monitors the amount of people allowed to access the beach at any given time. Since it is such a small beach and is beloved by locals, they want to ensure that it’s kept in good condition, hence why the entrance is monitored. We only waited roughly 15 minutes but could have easily waited longer had we arrived just a few minutes later.
Once you get down to the beach, which is a feat in and of itself, it is truly one of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca, and even all of Europe. Crystal clear turquoise waters, orange rocks and deep blues are all that the eye can see. On the way back, I recommend taking the scenic route to Carrer des Calo des Moro, but be careful as it can be narrow and dangerous at times.
*Pro Tip: There are no food or drink vendors within walking distance of the beach so I highly recommend coming prepared with sustenance for the day, because it’s going to be hard to pull yourself away from this slice of paradise.
Playa Cala Pi
Location: South Central Coast
Playa Cala Pi is a great stop if you’re traveling from the Southeast corner of the island to the Northwest coast. The beach is accessible from the small town of Cala Pi, and unlike a lot of the other beaches, it has an abundance of soft sand and a large beach to swim in. We unfortunately, didn’t get to swim much due to jellyfish, but it was still such a lovely place to enjoy the afternoon.
Parking: You can find free street parking in the town of Cala Pi which is just a short walk from the beach.
Cala Deià
Location: Northwest Coast
A small stone beach located just outside of the village of Deià, Cala Deià is a must-see stop. Though a little harder to get to, the views of the beach and the water just can’t be beat. Despite the abundance of rocks, it is in my opinion, one of the best beaches to swim in.
This beach is also equipped with a popular restaurant where you can enjoy lunch with an ocean view. Although some reviews say the food is overpriced and mediocre, the view really can’t be beat.
Parking: If you’re not used to driving on single lane roads with more than one car, I recommend the Parkplatz (Carrer Francisco Mas, 5, 07179 Deià, Illes Balears, Spain), across the street from the beach road entrance. It is quite a climb up and down but you avoid getting into sticky situations with other drivers. It’s also within walking distance of the village of Deià so you can easily to enjoy lunch in town after.
Platja Estanys
Location: Southeast Coast
Platja Estanys is a beautiful beach just minutes from the town of Colonia Saint Jordi. Light blue calm, shallow waters make it easy to spend your day wading in the ocean. A local beach bar offers beverages and light bites, and a beachfront restaurant, 5illes BEACH&SUNSET, is a great place to grab lunch or take in the beautiful sunset.
Parking: You can find free street parking for Platja Estanys in the town of Colonia Saint Jordi, which is just a very short walk from the beach.
Sóller Playa
Location: Western Coast
A smaller town beach located right along the main strip of Port de Sóller, Sóller Playa is one of the few beaches in the area that has public bathrooms, showers, lounge chairs for rent, bars and restaurants. The view from the beach is also a unique one; mountains in the background contrast with the buildings of the town and the beautiful boats lining the harbor. This is also a great beach in that the water is very calm and clear.
Parking: You can find a number of metered parking spots lining the harbor. There are some parking lots located more inward but it’s a little ways away from the beach and the bars and restaurants.
There are no words to truly describe the beauty that Mallorca exudes at every turn. While there are a number of beaches scattered across the coastline, each has it’s own unique vibe and feel. No matter if you see one or all of the beaches listed here, each one is truly one of the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca.
