Last year my friends and I purchased tickets for a wine tour on a whim, and it ended up being such a great experience. When deciding what to get my mom for her birthday, I thought back to that trip, and couldn’t imagine anything better than a fall day spent visiting local vineyard. Although it was a bit chilly throughout the day, this super cozy black/white plaid scarf kept me warm and added a little something to my neutral outfit.
We purchased the Wine and Music Tour from Hampton Luxury Liner on LivingSocial a few months back, and due to the popularity of the tour, were only able to find availability this past weekend. It’s such an easy tour to get to – they pick you up at 8:30 a.m. in NYC, and take you to three wineries only an hour and a half drive from the city.
At the first two wineries, we were allotted an hour and five tastings for each, which was more than enough. At the last winery, we were allotted two hours, and were told that there would be plenty of food available – this was from 1 – 3 p.m., so after wine tasting all morning we were starving! Once we got off I remembered the winery from my last tour the year before, and was disappointed. The food options were minimal (only cold sandwiches), and there was very little space to sit down and relax.

Luckily, thanks to technology these days, I was able to go on Google Maps and find a pizza shop right down the road. My mom and I trekked there from the winery and ended up having the best lunch at Grana Trattoria Antica – a small house salad, a fig and goat cheese pizza and of course, wine.
It was a great day to spend out on Long Island visiting the vineyards, and something that i highly recommend doing if you’re in the area!
