The first leg of our journey started out with a seven-hour plane ride, a 20-minute car ride to the ferry port, and a two-hour ferry to the island of Vis, and we were FINALLY in the small town of Komiza (pronounced Ko-mi-jah).
Since Croatia is the country of over 1000 islands, we knew we had to spend a portion of our trip visiting one of them, and given that Vis is only a ferry ride away from the city of Split the decision was a no-brainer.
After taking a night to rest from our 15 hour travel day, we woke up ready to explore the town of Komiza, and the island of Vis. What makes the islands of Croatia so beautiful is that they’re so untouched by the outside world; what exists are small shops and restaurants all run by the locals. The buildings in the town of Komiza were all made of stone, and were surrounded by the beautiful Adriatic Sea, which was the most perfect teal blue color. It truly was the best place to escape from our hectic life in the city, and I definitely could have spent the entire trip here.
This island of Vis was by far my favorite stop on the trip, I mean look at this place! It felt like it was straight out of a dream. We could easily walk to the restaurants, cafes and beach all in under 5 minutes from our Airbnb.
It was truly one of the most relaxing, tranquil places I’ve ever been.
