As I sit at home practicing social distancing amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, I’ve been finding new ways to stay creative. Given that I’ve had to put my upcoming travel plans to Paris on hold, I thought what better way to keep my creative juices flowing than by trying my hand at a new cocktail recipe using none other than the French dessert wine – Lillet. A very simple blend of whiskey, lillet and homemade simple syrup, this Simple Lillet Whiskey Cocktail is an easy way to spice up any dinner party.

Ingredients: (makes two cocktails)
- 3oz Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (or any whiskey that you prefer)
- 1.5oz Lillet
- .5oz simple syrup (if you can make homemade, I highly recommend mixing a rosemary or clove infused simple syrup to spice things up)
Homemade Simple Syrup Recipe:
Combine equal parts sugar and into a pot over medium/high heat. Add in a handful rosemary or a few cloves and stir until sugar has dissolved. Remove rosemary/cloves and set aside to cool.
Cocktail Recipe:
Add whiskey, lillet and simple syrup into a shaker with ice and shake to combine. Pour over ice and serve with fresh rosemary (not pictured here).
I hope this recipe helps to transport you to France even just for a sip. Enjoy!
