A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of traveling upstate to stay at the beautiful Rivertown Lodge. Located in Hudson, NY, it’s only a 2-hour train ride away from New York City (make sure to sit on the left side on the way there to see some great views) and only a short walk from the Hudson train station.
The lodge is a locally-owned boutique hotel with a vintage-modern aesthetic and beautifully done interior design. It was previously known as the Warren Inn Motel and before that was a movie theater, hence the front exterior of the building – a fun and unique quirk of the place. Another fun aspect of the interior is that a lot of the furniture inside is custom-made by local craftsmen.
I was able to visit over Columbus Day weekend, which just happened to be one of the first of many colder weekends in New York. The weather couldn’t have had better timing because the hotel makes for the coziest spot to snuggle up with a cup of their complimentary coffee and tea, which I highly recommend, or a drink at their locally-made bar. If I could, I think I’d spend every winter weekend here!
As for our accommodations, we ended up staying in one of their corner queen rooms on the second floor. Since the setup is similar to that of a motel, the room was located right off of the side outdoor walkway, which had the cutest little cafe tables and chairs, along with a great view of the hotel surroundings. The room itself had a modern minimal aesthetic, with the only standout piece being a beautifully printed arm chair in the corner of the room. I also couldn’t get over how amazing the tiled shower was – definitely gave me major home goals!
While there, we also had the pleasure of seeing the suite, which had the coziest little sitting room and a colorful and bright bedroom, which you can see pictures of above. The best part of the room was the deep bath. If I had my choice, I’d spend the whole night relaxing in there with a glass of wine.
Another great aspect of the hotel is the lobby, which all guests are free to relax and enjoy daily, and is also where they serve brunch on Saturdays! While we didn’t have the chance to taste anything from the brunch menu, we did get a peek at some of the plates and everything looked delicious!
If you find yourself in the Hudson area, I highly recommend you stay at the Rivertown Lodge, or at least stop by for brunch or a drink! You will not be disappointed.
Though the hotel itself is enough to keep you occupied during your stay, there are also quite a few shops, restaurants and bars located within walking distance! I’ll be sharing more on what to do and where to eat while in the Hudson area in an upcoming post!
