Over the years I’ve had my fair share of hotel and Airbnb stays, but none were quite like a stay at the Lokal Hotel Philadelphia. Located in the quaint Old City neighborhood, this unique design-centric boutique hotel is creatively deigned and decorated, making it coziest and most picturesque hotel in Philadelphia.
A unique aspect of the Lokal Hotel that I was initially drawn to is their ‘Invisible Service, which means there’s no reception and no onsite staff. Instead, you’re sent an automated code to let yourself into the building and a separate one to access your room, eliminating the need for room keys.
Prior to visiting you’re asked how you like your coffee and everything that you need for it is there upon arrival. Within the room, they also offer iPads, which can be used to watch Netflix, play music, order groceries and more. I mean, could they make it any more convenient? With this hands off service and everything you could possibly need at your fingertips, this is truly is a place that you could, and would want to, stay for an extended period of time.
For our stay, we had the opportunity to experience the Billy studio apartment and it did not disappoint. The room features a queen size bed, sitting area, full kitchen and Island with seating for two. With swoon-worthy decor and everything (including the local shampoo, body wash & conditioner that I was on the hunt for before we left the city) truly thought through and organized down to the last detail, leaving this place was the hardest thing that I had to do that weekend.
Another great thing about this hotel is the location. If you’re not familiar with Philadelphia, the Old City neighborhood of the city is known for its Colonial-era sites, such as Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell and the Betsy Ross House, among others, so it’s the perfect spot for those looking to explore the city.
On top of that, this area is full of art galleries, local shops, one-of-a-kind coffee shops, bars and restaurants and other areas of the city are within walking distance.
Although I grew up in Philadelphia and spent four years of college here, the Lokal Hotel gave me the opportunity to experience this city in a completely new way and let me tell you, it was nice to live like a local here again (with better decor) even if it was just for one night.
If you’re in the Philadelphia area or even, Dorchester NJ (where the Lokal Hotel has another location), I highly recommend checking out the Lokal Hotel for your stay.
