If you already follow me on Instagram (@luckeyalex), you know that I’ve been raving about the new Domino Park in Brooklyn since I had the chance to check it out a few weeks after it opened. Located along the East River at 300 Kent Ave, in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn and only about a 10 minute walk from the Bedford Ave L stop, it offers something for just about everyone.
Formerly known as the home of the Domino Sugar Refinery, the spacious 6-acre public park features plenty of comfortable outdoor seating options with spectacular views, beach volleyball, a bocce court, playing fields, a dog park, an on-site restaurant and much more.
Zach and I headed here early on a Saturday morning and it was the perfect place to sit on the wood lounge chairs, enjoy our breakfast and take in the city views. We were pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn’t the least bit crowded yet so we took our time exploring the space looking at all of the unique remnants of the old refinery that were used as design elements throughout the space.
We also had a chance to take a look at the Tacochina restaurant located right in the middle of the park. It’s the ideal location for affordably priced drinks and food, and offers the best views of the city.
One of my favorite parts of the park is the space. In a city that’s constantly bustling with people, it’s so nice to have places where you can get some fresh air for a bit. I know that this will be a go-to spot no matter the season.
So, if you haven’t had a chance to make it down to Domino Park yet, I highly recommend that you head there for a drink at Tacochina, an afternoon two on two volleyball game or a sunset picnic to soak in the view – it’s definitely worth it!
